Broccoli is from Italy. It has been eaten there since the 6th Century BC. Broccoli is a member of the cabbage family. It is high in Vitamin C along with Vitamin A and fiber. The average American eats over 4 pounds of broccoli yearly. Broccoli can help prevent diabetes in adults.

Carrot

The part of the carrot we eat is called the taproot. Carrots were originally white or purple. When first grown, carrots were used for their leaves and seeds rather than their roots which is now what we know as carrots. Holtville, California calls itself the Carrot Capital of the World and has a carrot festival annually.
