Giraffes are very interesting animals to learn about. Here is a video all about giraffes!

Below are some facts about giraffes:

  1. The giraffe is the tallest mammal in the world, with even new-born babies being taller than most humans.
  2. Baby giraffes can stand within half an hour and after only 10 hours can actually run alongside their family.
  3. Giraffes spend most of their lives standing up; they even sleep and give birth standing up.
  4. Giraffes only spend between 10 minutes and two hours asleep per day. They have one of the shortest sleep requirements of any mammmal.

Why are giraffes my favorite animal?
Giraffes are my favorite animal because they are so unique and adorable. For example, I don't know of any other animal that has a 6-foot neck. Or that has very unique brown spots. The first time I ever saw a giraffe was when I went to the Bronx Zoo when I was 5. I got to feed a baby giraffe leaves strait from my hand. It was awesome!
When I was younger I used to have a stuffed giraffe that I would take everywhere. Its name was Larry, and it was awesome. It had a red cape and blue shoes. Since then, I have always thought that giraffes were the coolest animal in the world.
