Without the NES we most likely woudn't be playing video games in North America right now. The NES saved the 1983 video game crash. What happened? Stores stopped selling game consoles because of a bunch of bad games on the Atari platform, but Nintendo saved the video game indestry with Super Mario Bros. How did Nintendo sneak it on store shelves? The NES was marketed as a "toy", in the box it came with a R.O.B the robot extension and of course the console and wires. It brought back video games to North America selling a total of 61.91 million (was good for back then). Without Nintendo you might not have your Xbox or Playstation or any type of video game in genral (and that counts for PC too). Sueccess: Nintendo has had big suecess, some giant sucess and just plain old fails in genral. The Nintendo Wii sold a total of 101.52 million consoles worldwide beating out the Xbox 360 and PS3! (in sales) But that wasn't as much as the original DS, the orginal DS sold a total of 154.02 million sold! There were more sueccess then that but didn't sell as many as those two consoles (such as the gameboy, snes etc). Click here to learn about every Nintendo console made! (Might be outdated)

There were also failed consoles, Nintendo make back in Dec 1, 1999 it was so much of a failure it was a Japan exculsive only! There were also underrated Consoles as the Gamecube and the Wii U, they both sold under 30 million so finacly a failure but fun consoles. Nintendo teamed up with Sony to make a console, but Nintendo cut the deal and worked with Phillips and it didn't work out great for them... Nintendo and Sony made a wierd prototype of the Nintendo Playstation, but got cancled, A guy found it in a wierd Ebay bid. Click here to see the Nintendo Playstation!
Failures (in more details) As every company that has existed there has been failures, maybe something is overpriced, or not intresting to the basic consumer etc. Nintendo has had its failures of consoles, The Wii U was underpowered, the name was very comfusing, people also didn't know it was a seprate console from the Wii, and much, much more. The Nintendo 64DD, This was a extension for the Nintendo 64 which would allow games to be used with a mouse, it was a giant flop and didn't even get realesed in America, there were only four games made for this system. The Gamecube, this consoles controller was very weird and just didn't sell well finacially. The Virtual Boy would give you a instant migrain and was also a-head of its time, it was a horrible red console that would make you want to turn it off the secound you turn it on, it would give you a giant migrain. Those were just some of the failures but there are many more. Smaller suecesses: Like every company they have very suecess full things, and they have consoles that didn't sell as much but still suecceded. The 3DS which had 6 diffrent consoles, at the begging this console was overpriced and no one wanted it, but later Nintendo dropped the price off the console by 100$. When Nintendo did that one action everyone went for the console,it has sold around > 72 million consoles There were also a bunch of good games like Super Mario 3D Land, Pokemon Ultra Sun, Kirby, and much, much more. Luckily Nintendo says that the 3DS isn't going anywhere in 2018, so if you want to by one in 2018 you will have new games still. Also the 3DS is backwords compatible with the orignal DS! Which will give you even more games to play. The N64 has sold 32 Million consoles around the world, people loved the console even though the controller could give you blisters, there were multiple great games such as Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, The Legend of Zelda: A link between worlds: (got remade on 3DS) and many more. The Gameboy was a giant suecess selling a total of 118 Million world wide! It did have some annoying problems though, it ran on batteries, didn't have a backlight, but this console has a bunch of games and there were 7 diffrent gameboys made over the years (some that lasted long and some that didn't).

Smaller suecesses: Like every company they have very suecess full things, and they have consoles that didn't sell as many but still suecceded.
